Why We Disclose Your Information

We may share your information with third parties in certain situations. In particular, we may share your data with third-party processors as needed to serve our legitimate business interests, which include administration of our Website, administration of your account, communicating with you, delivering our services, identifying trends, protecting the security of our company and Website, and marketing additional goods and services to you. The legal basis for our disclosure of your data is both your consent to this Privacy Policy and our own right to protect and promote our legitimate business interests.

The following are specific reasons why we may share your information.

Service Providers: We may disclose your information to third parties who assist us with various tasks (collectively, “Service Providers”). Examples of Service Providers we use include data analytics companies (Google Analytics), email delivery (by Kit), web hosting services (BigScoots), companies that provide IT services (Nerdpress), and marketing services (Raptive). The type of information that we provide to a Service Provider will depend on the purpose of the service they provide to us.

We prohibit our Service Providers from selling or disclosing the personal data we provide, and we require all Service Providers to maintain confidentiality standards that are commercially reasonable to ensure the security of your personal data.

By Law: We may share your data as required by law or to respond to legal processes, including a subpoena, or as necessary to protect the rights, property, and safety of others. This includes sharing information with other parties to prevent or address fraud and avoid credit risks.

To Protect our Company: We may use your information to protect our company, including investigating and remedying any violations of our rights or policies. Advertisers: We may use third-party advertising companies to run and manage our ads and to produce ads that appear when you visit our Website or mobile app. These companies may use information about your visit to our Website and other Websites that are contained in web cookies to offer you personalized advertisements about goods and services that might interest you. Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to store information about how visitors use our Website so that we may make improvements and give visitors a better user experience. Google Analytics is a third-party information storage system that records information about the pages you visit, the length of time you were on specific pages and the website in general, how you arrived at the site, and what you clicked on when you were there. These cookies do not store any personal information about you e.g. name, address, etc. and we do not share the data. Here's more info on how Google Analytics handles data and privacy. You may opt out of Google Analytics via Google Analytics opt-out. For EU residents, here is Google Analytics' data processing agreement.

Kit: We use this service for the delivery of email updates and newsletters. Kit stores your name (if provided by you) and email address for the purpose of delivering such communications. You may unsubscribe at any time and ask for your contact information to be removed from the Kit database. Please refer to Kit's privacy policy for further information. For EU users, we have a signed Data Processing Agreement with Kit.

Recipe Maker: We use this service, among other things, to enable user ratings of our recipes. Recipe Maker has provided us with the following information:

Cookies: When user ratings are enabled we store a WPRM_User_Voted_%recipe% cookie (with %recipe% the ID of the recipe) that contains the rating this user has given to a particular recipe. This cookie is used as (one of the) measures to prevent rating spam.

IP Address: When user ratings are enabled we store the IP address upon voting. This is used as one of the measures to prevent rating spam.

How long we retain your data: Our cookies are stored for 30 days. User-submitted data is stored indefinitely in the local database.

Recipe Maker also tracks analytics about the actions users take on the Recipe Card, including but not limited to using the "Jump to Recipe" button, printing a recipe, rating a recipe, sharing a recipe, and adjusting the serving size. This information helps us improve our recipe card and make it as helpful to users as possible. The information we collect includes users' IP addresses and browser data but not personal data such as a name or an email address.

Recipe Maker is owned by Bootstrapped Ventures. Here is this company's privacy policy.

We are not bound by the privacy policies of any third-party website that you access by a link, and they are not bound by ours. We encourage you to read the policies of those third-party websites before interacting with them or making purchases as they may collect different information via different methods than us.

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Other Purposes: We may disclose your personal data as necessary to comply with any legal obligation or to protect your interests, or the vital interests of others or our company.

As aggregated or deidentified information. We reserve the right to share or sell aggregated, anonymous or deidentified information about any individuals with non-affiliated entities for marketing, advertising, research or other purposes, without restriction.  We do not limit the third parties’ use of the aggregated information.

California

This Website is owned by a Wyoming company and operated in Tennessee. Any processing of California Residents' personal data by this Website is merely incidental, and the CCPA is not generally applicable to this Website's personal data processing activities.

Without limiting the foregoing, to the extent that this Website's activities implicate CCPA now or in the future, this section provides California residents with the notice and disclosures required under the CCPA.

The California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”) took effect on January 1, 2020, and provides California consumers with certain rights regarding their personal information.

The section “Personal Information We Collect and Use” explains the specific details of personal information that we collect. The CCPA also requires listing categories of personal information collected. As defined by the CCPA, we collect, or have collected in the past 12 months, the following categories of personal information:

  • Identifiers (such as name, email address, postal address, phone number, IP address)
  • Personal information categories listed in the California Customer Records statute [Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e)] such as name, contact information, employment
  • Commercial information (such as transaction information, purchase history, payment information)

Personal information, as defined by the CCPA, does not include publicly available information from government records and de-identified or aggregated consumer information.

We use and disclose the categories of personal information we collect from and about you consistent with the business purposes discussed in the section “How We Use the Information.”

The CCPA also sets forth obligations for businesses that “sell” personal information to third parties.  We do not “sell” personal information and have not sold any personal information in the past 12 months. However, we recognize that exchanging your information to other providers for something of value may be considered “selling” under the CCPA’s definition and want to err on the side of transparency.

If you are a California resident, you may have the following consumer rights under the CCPA:

  1. Right to know about personal information collected, used, disclosed, or sold. You have the right to request that we disclose to you the categories of personal information we collect or disclose (or have collected or disclosed in the past 12 months) about you, the categories of sources of such information, the business or commercial purpose for collecting your personal information, and the categories of third parties with whom we share/disclose personal information.  This information is also explained throughout this Privacy Policy.
  2. Right to request deletion of personal information. You have the right to request the deletion of your personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain conditions and limitations under the law.
  3. Right to Opt Out of the sale of personal information. The CCPA provides consumers with the right to opt out of the sale of their personal information. We do not share, sell, rent, or trade User Personal Information with third parties for their commercial purposes as defined under the CCPA.
  4. Right to non-discrimination for exercising a consumer privacy right. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your rights under the CCPA.

To exercise any of your rights as set out above, please contact us at HealthyRecipesBlog@gmail.com. You will be required to verify your identity before we are able to fulfill your request. You can designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. To do so, you will need to provide a written authorization or power of attorney signed by you for the agent to act on your behalf. You will still need to verify your identity with us. Note that consumers may only make a personal information request twice in a 12-month period under the CCPA. We will work to respond to your verifiable request within 45 days of receipt. Certain information may be exempt from requests under applicable law.

Do Not Track Signals: Pursuant to California law, we hereby disclose that we do not currently honor Do Not Track signals issued by browsers or other third-party sources.

We may refuse your right to delete if it is reasonably necessary for us to provide a service requested by you; to maintain functionality and ensure security of our systems; to enable solely expected internal uses of your personal data; to exercise a right provided by law; or to comply with a legal obligation.
  • Right to opt-out of sale. You have the right to opt-out of the sale of your personal data.
  • Right to opt-out of targeted advertising. You may have the right to opt-out of the processing of your personal data for purposes of targeted advertising based on your activity across non-affiliated websites, applications, and online services. We use cookies, pixels, and similar technology, and we share certain information, such as your IP address, to certain third-party advertisers in order to optimize our marketing activities. 4.2. How to exercise your rights. To exercise any of the above rights, please email HealthyRecipesBlog@gmail.com. For us to fulfill your request, you must provide sufficient information for us to reasonably verify that you are the consumer from whom we collected the personal data. The information you send for us to verify your identity will be used for this purpose only. If we are unable to verify your identity or if we suspect fraudulent activity, we may decline to comply with your request.

We endeavor to respond to a verifiable consumer request within 45 days of receipt. If we require more time, we will notify you in writing of the reason and extension period. We will deliver our written response electronically via email. If we cannot comply with part or all of your request, we will explain the reasons in our response and provide instructions on how to appeal. Within 60 days of receipt of an appeal, we will provide a written explanation of the reasons for our decision.

We do not charge a fee to process or respond to your verifiable request to exercise the above rights, up to twice annually. If we determine that the request warrants a fee, we will tell you why we made that decision and provide you with a cost estimate before completing your request.
