I have many chocolate desserts on this blog because I consider dark chocolate as a healthy ingredient.
Dark chocolate contains flavanols, calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and zinc. If it's very dark, it has a minimal amount of sugar, and the fat in cocoa butter, stearic acid, is harmless.
These desserts are made with unsweetened cocoa powder or with dark chocolate. They contain a minimal amount of other wholesome ingredients.
Just as important, they are delicious! Smooth, creamy and rich, enjoy these desserts in moderation - a little goes a long way.
The best thing about rich, dark chocolate desserts is that a small amount really does satisfy you. With sugary candy bars, we all tend to overdo it, and it's very easy to overeat. This is not the case with dark chocolate desserts. It's probably a combination of these desserts having less sugar (so a lower insulin spike) and more fat (more satiating).
