Spicy Baked Sweet Potato Fries

sweet potato fries

I love my recipe for baked sweet potato fries, but Kalyn’s recipe for SPICY sweet potato fries looked so good, I had to try my own version. I knew that I loved the combination of pumpkin roasted with olive oil and chili powder, so I decided to try a similar seasoning mix for these baked sweet potato fries, and whoa – let me tell you, this one is a winner. Only drawback is, it will make you eat too much!

Yield: 4 servings
  • Olive oil cooking spray
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes (1 lb. total weight)
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with foil and spray it with olive oil cooking spray.
  2. Peel sweet potatoes, rinse and dry. Cut sweet potatoes in half lengthwise, then cut each half in two, and then cut each quarter into ¼-inch-thick fries. Pat dry using paper towels.
  3. Transfer sweet potato fries to a large bowl. Drizzle with the olive oil and use your hands to mix and make sure all pieces are coated in the oil.
  4. Sprinkle the sweet potatoes with the chili powder, salt and garlic powder. Again, use your hands to mix well.
  5. Arrange the sweet potato fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Make sure they don't touch each other. Bake 10 minutes, then turn to the other side and bake 8-10 more minutes. Watch them closely so they don't burn. Serve immediately. SPICY!
